Wisconsin Homeowners Trust Stanek® Replacement Windows
Stanek Windows Featured Project – June 2015
When they moved into this 22-year-old home in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, the new homeowners had little doubt that they would be installing Stanek® replacement windows in this home, too. Having had Stanek Windows installed in their previous home, they were pleased with the look and performance of the windows throughout the years.
The home’s original wood windows were inefficient and in need of maintenance. When Dwight Zoellner from Stanek Windows in West Allis, Wisconsin, arrived for an in-home consultation, he pointed out many areas of concern. The first was black mold growing on the inside of some windows at the edge of the glass. A common occurrence with wood windows, mold often grows in this area because this is where condensation builds up, keeping the wood damp.
And there were other issues with the windows: broken decorative grids, broken locks, rotted wood on the exterior and a cloudy residue in between the panes of glass indicating the seals had failed. Furthermore, the windows couldn’t be cleaned from the inside, because they didn’t fully crank out. The homeowners also complained the windows were very cold in the winter and some rooms overheated in the summer because the windows didn’t keep out the sun and outdoor heat.
Dwight showed the homeowners the Stanek® UltraExtreme casement window. Made of vinyl inside and out, it is 100 percent maintenance free. Unlike some other vinyl windows, Stanek® reinforces both the sash and frame of casement windows with a non-composite Fibermax® material to prevent warping and sagging, creating the strongest frames on the market. Dwight also pointed out that moisture on the interior or exterior cannot damage the Stanek® window, so the way it looks when installed is the way it will look for years to come.
The extreme temperature fluctuations the homeowners were experiencing were due mainly to the glass in the existing windows. Dwight suggested replacing the clear thermopanes with Stanek® Comfort-Gard® XTREME high-performance glass. This glass utilizes three panes of glass with two layers of 16-layer soft-coat Low-E insulated with argon gas between the panes. When the Stanek® replacement windows were installed in March, the homeowners noticed an immediate difference in the comfort level of the home, because the new glass is more than three times as efficient as the original windows.
When it was time for spring cleaning after a long Wisconsin winter, the homeowners found it a breeze to clean their new windows. Stanek® casement windows crank out to a full 90 degrees, allowing the homeowners to reach through the opening and clean all the windows from the inside.
Backed with a peace-of-mind Limited Lifetime Warranty on parts and glass, their new Stanek® replacement windows will be the last windows these homeowners will need to install in this home.
The homeowners thanked Dwight, his installers and Stanek Windows for a job well done and said they will be referring family and friends in the future. And, with Stanek's Refer a Friend program, they can earn $100 for each referral that schedules an in-home estimate with us. If their referral purchases any one of our custom-made products, they will earn an additional $100.
